Are humans creating or discovering the expressive potential of rhythm and tone, or both?

I would be hard pressed to decide on and describe for you the most “swing” that I have ever experienced……

believing as I do in each of our inherent individuality, I think that any material well-loved (like a person!) can’t help but be a bit transformed…

What if the fearsomely good spirits that the best art and culture awaken within are not an end unto themselves but just the rock-churned spray kicking out of turbulent river?

Most of us have had experiences of surprising connection and even transcendence in and around live music. I want to share the story of one incredible moment (and I use “incredible” not just in a “generic-word-for-really-great” sense but literally “hard-to-believe”).

Perhaps the realm of the personal, explored at adequate depth, can open up into a basement gateway to the universal, as with “individual” trees intertwined through shared fungal networks at intimate depths of soil.

Major life events, like a cadence at the end of each repeating chorus, serve as nodes in time, little hills whose tops afford us the chance to look around a bit in all directions.
